"My house will be called a house of prayer." (Matthew 21:13)

The goal of the Calhoun
Baptist Association Prayer Ministry is to help churches and
their members obey Jesus’ command to be people of prayer.
A successful church prayer ministry is not another program
or activity. It is the ministry that under girds all that happens in the church.
For a congregation a
prayer ministry contributes to the creation of a praying church
that will experience “total prayer saturation.”
The ministry helps keep the congregation focused on God through
Bible study and prayer with their understanding of their need
to have an intimate relationship with God. It includes personal
elements of prayer as well as corporate and kingdom elements.
For
church members a prayer ministry raises the awareness of the
need for prayer. It encourages church members to focus their
efforts on praying for others and sharing Christ with others.
It also seeks to involve each church member in a meaningful
prayer life.
The Association’s
Prayer Ministry can help by providing specific intercessory
prayer for churches and pastors; training classes on prayer
and seminars to help your church learn how to organize and
start a church prayer ministry; consultation on elements of
a prayer ministry; recommendations on ways to keep prayer
at the center of all church programs and activities; and coordinate
and provide training for church prayer coordinators.
