"For I know the plans I have for you . . . plans for [your] welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is Christian love in action, meeting urgent needs of hurting humanity in crisis situations. God calls Christians to demonstrate love in the relief of victims of disasters through the efficient and immediate use of the resources, time, and talents entrusted to us by our Lord.

Disasters affect many people. Christians naturally respond to the hurts of those around them and feel an obligation to minister in the name of Jesus Christ. Christians working together can accomplish much for the glory of God.

The disaster response team can provide direction for the potential energy of individual Christians and churches desiring to be of service in times of disaster. Through planning, training, and practicing disaster response teams can provide leadership and expertise required in times of disaster.

Calhoun Baptist Association maintains a Chain Saw crew, Shower Trailer unit, and Feeding Unit. In recent years our Disaster Relief teams have been very busy helping to rebuild areas from the Midwest down to the Gulf Coast. Upcoming training and recertification will be held on March 18-20, 2010 at Hill Crest Baptist Church. For more information please call the Associational office or to register go to the Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief Web site.

If you want to make a financial contribution to our Disaster Relief Teams who are activated during catastrophic times, please make a check out to Calhoun Baptist Association designated for Disaster Relief and mail it to the Associational office (1130 Woodstock Avenue, Anniston, AL 36207) or come by the Associational office.
